German botanical artist comes to Il Palmerino with a new exhibition that celebrates the many phases of flowers

Mark your calendar and join us on February 18 at 5:30 pm for the inauguration of ‘Timeless: Marieluise Bantel and her Flowers’ at Il Palmerino Cultural Association.  The award-winning German botanical artist will be with us to open the show and share her moving depictions of ‘the life of flowers’, which celebrate their ‘withering phase’, not just the height of full bloom. Her oil-on-linen flowers are a meditation on change, beauty and transience.

For Bantel’s flowers, the graceful ‘art of ageing’ is no less lovely than the courage of timid buds seeking spring. While the majority of still-life artists focus on bouquets, Marieluise most often portrays single flowers or flowers ‘in conversation’. Are her painting’s titles – Graceful, Decay, Still – also the name of her flowers? Spaces limited, reservations required:  associazione@palmerino.it

If you miss the inaugural, make sure to see the show another day. It runs until March 21, Thursdays to Saturdays, from 3 pm to 7 pm, Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm, or by appointment.
